Election results: County Commission seats to change

The unofficial results of Tuesday’s voting in Mitchell County indicates that there will be a change in local leadership on the Mitchell County Board of Commissioners.

With 9 of 9 precincts reporting and a total of 3,961 votes cast, Dale Blevins lead with 1,955 votes, followed by Lee Ellis with 1,652 and incumbent and current chairman of the board of commissioners Harley Masters with 1,367 votes.

Current board members Brandon Dean Pittman came in fourth with 1,340 and Clayton Roberts finished in fifth place with 944 votes. Dewayne McKinney earned fourth place with 1,250 votes and Loren Grano finished with 147 votes.

There are three seats open on the board of commissioners.

Primary winners will face Democrats Jan Hamilton and Ron McKinney in the November General Election.

Incumbents Sam Blevins and Brenda Sparks were top vote getters in the Board of Education race earning 2,312 and 1,563 votes respectively.

Canvassing will be completed on March 15.
