SPRUCE PINE -- Ophelia “Teed” Wilson, 90, of Overlook Drive, Spruce Pine, passed away peacefully at her home Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack, and her son, Michael.
Born Dec. 29, 1926, Teed was a longtime resident of Spruce Pine. She was one of the first telephone operators for Southern Bell. Teed retired from the Mitchell County School System, where she worked as a teacher’s assistant.
She loved spending time with her friends from the Red Hats and Breakfast Club, gardening, playing cards and reading a good book.
Teed is survived by her sister, Martha Pendley, and husband, John; and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of the Blue Ridge or Snow Hill Cemetery Fund.
The graveside burial service was Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017, at Snow Hill Cemetery.
