Mitchell Mountaineers fall to Starmount Rams

Following the Mountaineers’ big 28-15 win last week against Mountain Island Charter, Mitchell’s postseason run came to an end this past Black Friday with a tough 58-22 loss to the Starmount Rams.

Mitchell struck first when Owen Riddle powered in the opening touchdown, giving the Mountaineers their first and only lead of the night. From there, a series of unfortunate turnovers shifted the momentum. Starmount took full advantage, capitalizing on Mitchell’s mistakes and piling on points as the game slipped away.

Peyton Pitman reflected on the season optimistically.

“We had a great season,” Pitman said. “It didn’t end how we would’ve liked, but we are coming for it all next year!”

Despite the season’s final scoreline, the Mountaineers showed determination and growth throughout the year. They fought their way into the playoffs and stepped up when it mattered, putting in the kind of hard work that defined this group from start to finish.
